'Blues Man' is a soulful oil painting that captures the essence of the legendary Mississippi John Hurt, mid-performance with his guitar in hand. Set against the moody backdrop of a smoke-filled room, the scene pulls you into the intimate energy of the moment, as though you're seated just a few feet away, lost in the rhythm of his music. The textured brushwork and muted tones add depth, creating a tribute not only to the man but also to the raw emotion and storytelling at the heart of the blues.
The original piece 40"L x 30" H x 1.5"W has been sold, but I’m happy to re-create a similar original just for you. Painted on high-quality, gallery-wrapped canvas and pre-wired, ready to hang. Standard sizes are available. Please reach out for a custom size and personalized quote.

This is such a deceptively complex piece that captures the essence of blues, soul, and a smoke filled dive bar where real music is played. In talking with April, I learned how important this work was to her and her art and it shows in the colors and the corresponding action in the painting. I placed my print of this by the record player.
