Inspiration Behind "Moonset"
Moonset is a meditation on cycles. The quiet architecture of endings that are really just beginnings in disguise. A procession of seven moons that drift across a burning sky, each one smaller, dimmer, more distant than the last, dissolving toward a other worldly horizon. Below, a representation of a floating river of lavender and bone-white winds through the dark brown barren terrain.
Created with acrylic on a 40"x40" gallery-wrapped canvas, this piece moves between stillness and motion. The sky is built in layers of amber, gold, and light green that is brushed with a restless, unfinished energy, as if the light itself hasn't decided whether it's arriving or leaving.
The moons are not a countdown, they are a becoming. Each phase its own complete self, none of them lesser for being smaller, none of them final for being last. Moonset asks what it means to release without disappearing, to fade without ending.
This piece doesn't mourn the dark. It walks toward it, unafraid, trusting what waits on the other side of the horizon line.
